Traveling

The traveling season begins with tryouts in September and ends with the state tournament the beginning of March. The actual tournament season begins in November.

Tip off Meeting
For those that made a team, there will be a mandatory Tip Off meeting, for Parents and Players, on Monday Oct 6 at 7:00pm in the Middle Shool Gym.

During this Tip Off meeting you'll hear more about the program and complete the following:

Try-out Format

Head Varsity coach, Nick Guida and his coaching staff, assist with the tryouts. Players are evaluated and chosen on an individual skill, position skill, and team play. Emphasis is placed on player attitude and discipline. It is our goal to provide a tryout format that honestly evaluates players.

The number of teams for each grade level will be based on the number of boys that try out along with the talent levels. No more then ten players will comprise a team and there will be a maximum of 2 teams per grade.

Practices

Practices will be one/two times per week. School activities will be considered so conflicts will be kept to a minimum. The team coach will contact their players for practice time and practice location.

Tournaments

4th grade will compete in aprox 7 tournaments (approximately 21 games), 5th & 6th grades will compete in 9 tournaments (approximately 27 games). 7th & 8th grades will compete in 11 tournaments (approximately 33 games). Scrimmages and extra practices may be scheduled during the season.

Player Participation Fee

All players selected to participate are required to pay a non-refundable fee at the parent meeting. The 4th Grade fee is $125.00, the 5th & 6th grade fee is $150.00 per player and the 7th & 8th grade fee is $175.00 per player. Discounts to families with two players selected will be $10.00 per child. All checks are to be written out to the Bison Backcourt Club and are due at the parent meeting, no exceptions. Player will not be allowed to play in a tournament until the fee is paid in full or other arrangements made with the board.
