Bison Backcourt Club

The Bison Backcourt Club (BBC) is pleased to once again be sponsoring Spring basketball teams.

Details are as follows:

For boys currently in the 3^rd - 8^th grades.

• Teams will be grade-specific, and will be formed at the discretion of the BBC board
• Each team will have between 7-10 players.
• There may be multiple teams per grade, if there are enough players (14-20 players are needed for 2 teams) and coaches.
• Depending on the number of kids per grade level, not everyone will be guaranteed to be on a team.
• Requests to be placed on a specific team or with specific players will not be accepted.
• Each team will have 1-2 practices per week, subject to the availability of available gym space.
•  Each team will play in 3 tournaments during the Spring season.
•  The cost per player will be between $100-150 per player, depending on the number of players on the team. Fees will be collected at the Spring team’s first practice.

 Important Dates:

·         The registration deadline for Spring basketball is Monday, March 5^th.                             We will be unable to accept late registrations.

·         Practices will begin the week of March 19^th.

        We are in need of coaching candidates for the Spring season – simply put, we cannot form our teams if we do not have coaches. We appreciate the important role that coaches play within our organization, and encourage parents to consider whether they would be willing to volunteer for a coaching position for the Spring season.

        If interested in coaching a Spring team, please complete the coaching section on the registration form (see PDF).  Each coaching applicant will be subject to a background check,  and each coach will also need to complete some mandatory training sessions:

•  Concussion training -- (on-line)
• Health-related training (AED/CPR/First Aid) – (only 1 needs to be completed) 

The background information and training received by current coaches for the BBC regular Winter season will be applicable for the Spring season as well.

The Bison Backcourt Club will hold our next monthly board meeting on Monday, March 12th.  The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. (please note time change back to our usual earlier time slot) at the Buffalo airport.

Our monthly board meetings are held on the second Monday of every month.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

At the February 13th board meeting,  the Bison Backcourt Club (BBC) held their annual elections.

There were four candidates (we had one candidate withdraw her name at the last minute)  for (3) open board positions.

Selected for new three year tems were:

• Julie Willert

Congratulations to the Joel, Julie and Tammy.  The board looks forward to the knowledge that you will bring to our club.  The BBC would like to thank all candidates who submitted their names to volunteer their time over the next three years.

The BBC would also like to thank "outgoing" board members Jeff Willert and Nicole Wishart for their outstanding contributions.  Your expertise and dedication will be missed.

The BBC also voted in the new officers for 2012 / 2013 year and assigned the member at large positions at the February 17th meeting.

Congratulations to the 6th Grade White Team for winning the Coins for Cancer contest and winning the team Pizza Party.

The team stepped up big with their contributions to this worthy cause.  

Basketball is a game, but your kindness and donations will go to help those suffering from this awful disease.
